My Refuge House Privacy Policy

Thank you for interacting with My Refuge House online. My Refuge House operates the websites www.myrefugehouse.org, www.movementforfreedom.com, www.fashionedforfreedom.com, and www.ispeak.ph.

This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of information from these websites and through our email and donor communications that can personally identify you and/or your organization, and it clarifies the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used.

Personally identifiable information (PII) includes information that is personal in nature and which may be used to identify you. As a general rule, My Refuge House does not collect PII about you when you visit our websites, unless you choose to provide such information to us. Submitting PII through our website is voluntary. Through our stakeholder database, we collect and store contact information from individuals as it is knowingly provided to us, including email and mailing addresses. You may provide PII to us when you send us an e-mail message or a request for information, when you fill out a questionnaire or survey, when you register for an event or make a donation, etc.

We use your PII to help us communicate more effectively. The PII you provide on our websites will be used only for the purpose for which you provided it. My Refuge House does not distribute PII or email addresses to third parties except where permission is explicitly provided or where it is required by law.

We do not require you to register or provide PII to visit our websites. You may choose at any time not to provide PII, although this may restrict our ability to provide requested services or information. We do collect some technical information that does not include PII when you visit to make your visit seamless. There is more explanation below about how we handle and collect information when you visit our websites.

Personally Identifiable Information (PII)
My Refuge House values the privacy of our stakeholders (e.g. volunteers, participants, visitors, donors, etc.). My Refuge House collects information to only help better connect with, engage, and serve our stakeholders. It is our policy to collect and store only PII that is knowingly provided to us.

If you choose to provide us with PII on a My Refuge House website, through such methods as completing a web form, we will use that information to help us collect a donation or provide you the information or service you have requested. We may use this to inform our strategies. The information we may receive from you varies based on what you do when visiting our site. We may enter your information into one of our databases so we can contact you to obtain your input, provide information about our programs and events, request donations, or provide a more personalized online experience.

The following are examples of personally identifiable information that you may volunteer to provide and examples of how we use such information.
+ Email Addresses - My Refuge House collects email addresses from those who make donations, create online user accounts, subscribe to emails, or register for events. My Refuge House may use your email address to send you emails from My Refuge House, including event information from My Refuge House, stakeholder and program updates, or email newsletters.
+ Mailing Addresses – My Refuge House may collect mailing addresses of those who request mailings, make donations, or register for events. My Refuge House may send via mail stakeholder newsletters, brochures or other informational or invitational items.
+ Cookies - Many websites use cookies, pieces of numeric data stored on your computer so that we can identify when you return to our website. My Refuge House can only "read" cookies that are placed on your computer from our own website. Usage of cookies is not linked to any personally identifiable information. You can select to disable cookies by changing your browser settings. If you choose to disable cookies in your browser, you may be unable to access portions of our website content.

To opt out of mailings or to unsubscribe from any or all of My Refuge House emails, you may unsubscribe through the link in an email you have received or contact us through the Privacy Policy contact information.

Other than to our employees, contractors and affiliated organizations, as described, My Refuge House does not share or distribute collected PII except where permission is explicitly given or it is required by law, such as a subpoena, court order, or other governmental request, when My Refuge House is required in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of My Refuge House, third parties, or the public at large, to prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with our website, to protect the personal safety of users of our website, and/or to protect against legal liability.

Email Communications
Many of our websites and email communications allow you to send us email messages. We will use the information you provide to respond to your inquiry. You should be reminded that email may not necessarily be secure against interception. Therefore, we suggest that you do not send sensitive PII (such as your bank account and Social Security numbers) to us via email. If your intended email communication is sensitive, e.g., it includes information such as your bank account, charge card, or Social Security number, you should instead send it by U.S. mail. Another alternative may be submission of data through a secure program website, like our online donation platform.

You acknowledge that such transfers may occur, and that any acquirer of My Refuge House may continue to use your PII as set forth in this policy. We will provide notice before your PII is transferred and becomes subject to a different Privacy Policy.

Your information, including PII, may be transferred to — and maintained on — computers located outside of your state, province, country, or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ from those of your jurisdiction. If you are located outside the United States and choose to provide information to us, please note that we transfer the data, including PII, to the United States and process it there.

My Refuge House will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy and no transfer of your PII will take place to an organization or a country unless there are adequate controls in place including the security of your data and other PII.

Your California Privacy Rights

Residents of the State of California, under a provision of the California Civil Code, have the right to request from companies conducting business in California a list of all third parties to which the company has disclosed personal information during the preceding year for direct marketing purposes. Alternatively, the law provides that if the company has a privacy policy that gives either an Opt-out or Opt-in choice for use of your personal information by third parties (such as advertisers) for marketing purposes, the company may instead provide you with information on how to exercise your disclosure choice options.

Kindful qualifies for the alternative option; it has a comprehensive privacy policy and provides you with details on how you may either Opt-out or Opt-in to the use of your personal information by third parties for direct marketing purposes. Therefore, we are not required to maintain or disclose a list of the third parties that received your personal information for marketing purposes during the preceding year.

If you are a California resident and request information about how to exercise your third party disclosure choices you must send a request to support@kindful.com.
